Biography
Sandra Labas Fenwick joined Children’s
Hospital in June of 1999 as senior vice president for Business Development,
Strategy and Ambulatory Care Operations.
In November of 1999, Sandra was appointed Chief Operating Officer and in
October 2008, was made President. In her role, Sandra is responsible for
all operations of the Children’s Hospital, its satellite facilities and related
institutional affiliates. She has
responsibility and authority for the management of patient care programs,
facilities, operating and capital budgets, strategic planning and program development,
and the research, educational and
community missions. Children’s
Hospital is a 397 bed Harvard teaching hospital with over $1.3billion of
revenues including $225M of research funding. Children’s has 860 physicians and dentists and 775 interns,
residents and fellows. The total
employee base comprises approximately 8,000 employees.
Prior to her arrival at Children’s,
Sandra served as senior vice president of System Development for CareGroup,
Inc. From 1976 to 1996, she served
in a number of roles at the Beth Israel Hospital including vice president and
deputy director, vice president of Clinical Services Planning and Development,
and vice president of Network Development for Beth Israel HealthCare.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from
Simmons College with distinction and a Masters in Public Health degree in
Health Services Administration from the University of Texas School of Public
Health and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Acusphere,
Incorporated, the Medical, Academic and Scientific Community Organization,
Inc., A Better City, Inc., the Belmont Hill School, Simmons College Corporation
and chairs the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. She received a Doctor of Science, honoris causa, from Pine
Manor College in 2001, a 2006 Champion in Healthcare award from the Boston
Business Journal and a 2007
Pinnacle Award from the Greater Boston Chamber. She is also a member of the Massachusetts Women’s Forum and
Women Corporate Directors/Boston.
Ms. Fenwick resides in Weston with her husband Geoffrey.
